A large rare zitan brush pot carved out of a solid trunk with lobed rim, depicting magnolia blossom su, richly patinated to a deep brownish-black colour. Magnolias, known as yulan, were once grown solely by Chinese emperors and were traditionally represent feminine beauty due to its orchid-like aroma and fleshy petals. Magnolia is also a pun for jade for its pureness and jade-like colour, which symbols wealth and rank.

筆筒器型端正沉穩,口沿外翻呈卷瓣状,外壁通体浮雕玉蘭花,生动流畅,婉转自然,艺术感强烈。紫檀木生長緩慢,且無大材,此件直徑22公分,實屬珍罕。
